How stores stack up for accuracy

Here's how area stores' listed prices compared with how they ring up on electronic scanners:

Service Merchandise, Northgate - 78 percent accuracy. Eleven of 50 items scanned incorrectly, costing a customer $22.78 more than listed prices out of $4,404 in purchases. JC Penney, Northgate - 84 percent accuracy. Of 50 items valued at $ 1,380, a customer could have paid $40.02 more than expected. Lechters, Kenwood Towne Centre - 88 percent. Of $173.51 in purchases, a customer could have paid 72 cents extra. United Dairy Farmers, Pleasant Ridge - 88 percent. Of $51.95 in purchases of 25 items, a customer could have paid 26 cents more than expected. Wal-Mart, Northgate - 88 percent. Of $267.85 in purchases, a customer could hav e paid 91 cents less than expected. Kmart, Groesbeck - 90 percent. Of $466.98 in purchases, a customer could have p aid $18.04 less than expected. SteinMart, Symmes Township - 90 percent. Of $1,219.95 in purchases, a customer could have paid $48.99 more than expected. Kmart, Forest Park - 94 percent. Of $1,101.50 in purchases, a customer could ha ve paid $6.75 more than expected. United Dairy Farmers, Blue Ash - 94 percent. Of $88.24 in purchases, a customer could have paid $1.42 more than expected. Sam's Club, Pleasant Ridge - 96 percent. Of $1,634.45 in purchases, a customer could have paid 89 cents less than expected. Here are the stores with 100 percent accuracy: BeBe at Kenwood Towne Centre. Best Buy, Tri-County.
